According to the player's own twitter account he's just agreed a new three-year deal at Reading. Alfie has proved a real hit since joining from Rotherham last August and finished top goalscorer in last year's Championship winning season.
Signed for around £300,000 to replace Shane Long, some questioned whether the then 24-year-old Le Fondre could make the step up two divisions to score the goals we needed to mount a play-off challenge.
However it took just two games for Alfie to open his account and he ended the season with a total of 12 goals to lead our goalscoring charts. It wasn't just the quantity of goals but the games they came in that were just so so important. In the Championship run-in, Le Fondre got key winners against Watford, Millwall, Leeds and Southampton all from the bench to give us some vital points.
Le Fondre then started this season alongside Pavel Pogrebnyak and scored his first Premier League goal when he converted a last minute penalty to earn a point against Stoke. Things haven't quite gone as well since then but he's not looked out of his depth at the top level and he's well deserving of a new deal.
