Friendly result: Reading 0-2 Sheffield Wednesday

Reading's second Portugal friendly ended in defeat last night against Sheffield Wednesday. The newly-promoted Championship club beat the Royals 2-0 - the first goal coming right on the stroke of half-time through Mike Jones. The Owls sealed victory late in the second half as Chris O'Grady pounced after an Andersen save. Reading created a few chances, most notably through the lively McCleary in the first half then Le Fondre in the second, who had a goal ruled out for offside. Brian McDermott will be disappointed not to have won the match, but as with all these early pre-season tours the priority has to be the fitness of the whole squad. As is customary, a different XI played in each half to ensure every player got a run out. For a full report on the OS click above.
