Mikkel Andersen will be keeping net at Pompy this season.
Young Royals goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen has completed a loan move to Portsmouth according to the man himself on Twitter.
Just in time!!! :D Officially signed for Portsmouth Football Club on loan
@officialpompey .. Very proud to represent this club!
The move itself had been mooted for quite some while but was held up due to the transfer embargo placed on Portsmouth following their financial troubles. With that ban lifted, Pompy have now been given clearance to sign Andersen and with the club comprising almost entirely of youth products at this stage, Andersen will be almost guaranteed to play every minute of football at Fratton Park.
Despite joining the club back in 2007 and being named on the bench many times, the Danish U21 international has never played a first team game for the Royals. During his time with the club he's clocked up around 70 games out on loan, most notably with Bristol Rovers as well as at youth level for his country, where he starred in the 2011 U21 Championship.
Despite competition from Alex McCarthy and Adam Federici, Andersen signed a new deal back at the turn of the year and this move will help put him in a better position to challenge his fellow 'keepers over the coming years.
We wish Mikkel all the best and will be following his progress in our loan reports throughout the season here on The Tilehurst End.
