Several young Royals helped their clubs make the first step towards Wembley - Clive Mason
A relatively quiet week on the loan front as players were rested for cup ties while others were forced to sit out under terms of their loan deals. Elsewhere two strikers continue to be frozen out while one midfielder picked up a knock. All this and more in this week's loan report.
Joseph Mills - Burnley (Championship) Appearances: 8
After being part of a defence that conceded four last week it was perhaps unsurprising that Mills was dropped this week. Sadly the left-back wasn't even named as a sub by new boss Sean Dyche but hopefully he can win him over in training.
*****
Mikkel Andersen - Portsmouth (League 1) Appearances: 16
Andrersen wasn't involved in Pompey's 2-0 cup defeat to Notts County as Reading didn't want him cup tied. The stopper fully expects his place back in the next league game though.
*****
Michael Hector - Shrewsbury (League 1) Appearances: 9
No place for Hector in Shrewsbury's line-up in their cup defeat at Hereford. The centre-back wasn't even on the bench but no word as to whether that's Reading's decision or the Shrews.
****
Gozie Ugwu - Yeovil (League 1) Appearances: 4 (+8) Goals: 3
Still no Ugwu for Yeovil either as he recovers from injury.
*****
Lawson D'Ath - Cheltenham (League 2) Appearances: 2 Goals: 1
FAC R1: Cheltenham 3-0 Yate
D'Ath was cleared by Reading to play in the FA Cup against non-league Yate and the midfielder played 45 minutes in a comfortable win. Sadly D'Ath also picked up a knee injury which could well see him miss tonight's trip to Gillingham, hopefully it's not too serious though.
*****
Karl Sheppard - Accrington (League 2) Appearances: 7(+5) Goals: 1
Again there was no place for Sheppard as Accrington eased into the second round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 win at AFC Fyle.
*****
Brett Williams - Woking (Conference Premier) Appearances: 4(+9) Goals: 1
Conference Premier: Gateshead 2-1 Woking
Williams earned seven minutes from the bench as Woking went down to a 2-1 defeat at Gateshead in the Conference
*****
Matt Partridge - Bognor Regis (Isthmian League - Premier Division) Appearances: 4
Another clean sheet for young defender Matt Partidge as Bognor made it back to back home wins. The centre back could also have got on the score sheet but saw his effort saved by the Thurrock 'keeper.
